The Broken Prince Blog Tour

The Broken PrinceVery excited to have an author visiting my blog today to share a special guest post about “Writing Beauty out of Brokeness” in celebration of her book release for The Broken Prince. Please welcome Kara Linaburg!

Hola you wonderful humans!

One of my ongoing life themes has been beauty in brokenness. My blog (seven years and counting!!!) is called, “Beautifully Broken,” my newly released novel deals with deep brokenness in my characters, and I love to rock my, “your brokenness is welcome here” t-shirt from SoulScripts.

Why do I write about brokenness with such a passion? Why does it matter when we can find ourselves drowning in a darkness where there seems no escape?

I have learned that seeing beauty in a broken world is a choice. It is not something you wake up and do with ease.

It is one of the hardest choices you will ever make.

It is the hardest choice I have ever made.

I still second guess myself. Some nights I lay awake and wonder why the heck I ever made this choice. Some days the depression is so deep.

When I chose to write a YA fantasy dealing with the harder topics, when I decided to change the name and mission of my blog, there was nothing easy about it. There is still nothing easy about it.

I don’t think there ever will be.

But there is beauty in brokenness because this is not the end of your story. Our brokenness is the beginning, but it does not have to be the end.

The choice is ours.

You can call me crazy, but I am alive because there is a God who loves me despite my flaws. He tells me that my brokenness does not have to define me. He calls me loved even when I do not feel it. He whispers that the darkness will not win in the end, and that there is hope for tomorrow.

It is because of that I see beauty in brokenness, and it is because of that I find a passion to write, to let others know they are not alone.

That is how you write in beauty even though we are so far from whole. There is no special formula I can give you to do this. There is no promise that you will have a better life because you choose to live and believe there is beauty in you brokenness.

But there is something truly powerful when each day you choose to stand despite the darkness. Each day when I write against the darkness, when I stand on my blog and say there’s hope when mentally I’m falling apart, that is beauty in brokenness. When we stand despite the storm, despite the lack of light in our lives, that’s when we begin to win the fight.

That is why I write.

Because there is hope for tomorrow.

And I want you to know that too.

You are never alone.

About the Book:

~In all the fairy tales the maiden falls in love with the prince…but she has to remember that this isn’t a fairy tale~

Born into a kingdom where those of magical Gifts are rejected, feared, and even killed, Serena has spent her life striving to hide her ability and keep her younger brother safe.
The bastard son of the hated king and father he hardly knows, Prince Milosh is considered an outcast. He never expects to feel anything but contempt for the peasant girl who unexpectedly shows up in his life, forcing him to answer questions he never wished to ask.

When two very different worlds are thrown together under less than desirable circumstances, both hold deep judgement towards the other. But will they learn to see beyond their stations and birth so that they may defeat the coming darkness, or will labels given to them at birth continue to define them?

A heart-stopping tale about the power of human love, and how each of us are never truly alone.
