Now I have Ms. Sarah Ashwood here for an interview to tell us a little bit about herself and her books.

Hello, Sarah! Why do you like to write stories?

I discovered when I was very young that I had a highly active imagination and always seemed to have stories in my head. Writing gives me the perfect creative outlet to tell those stories, to release them from my brain out into the world.

If you could spend a day with one of your characters, who would it be and why? What would you do together?

Oh goodness. Definitely one of the Simathe, the race of immortal warriors in my Sunset Lands Beyond books. I would probably pick either the Simathe High-Chief, Ilgard, or the Chief Captain, Norband. I’m, uh, not sure what we’d do together. Simathe aren’t exactly known for having fun or being party animals. Maybe we’d go to the gym or workout together. Maybe they’d give me some weapons training. That would be cool.

On second that, I’d probably get along better with Lord Contrey, another Simathe warrior, who is more scholarly and enjoys libraries and reading. Or Lord Cole, simply because he’s the nicest and most outgoing of all the Simathe.

Would you want to live in your story world? Tell us why or why not.

I would love to live in Aerisia. Aerisia has everything I’ve always been interested in. Fairies, unicorns, warriors, dragons, magic, beautiful forests, grand mountains. Aerisia has its own version of the Roman army from ancient Rome, and pirates from the Golden Age of Piracy. In short, pretty much everything I like, I threw into Aerisia in some way.

Can you recommend any authors/books that have inspired you and your style of writing?

Yes! I love the works of C. Greenwood, Julie Kagawa, Kara Jaynes, Angie Grigalinus, Francine Rivers, and many more.

Bonus: You come face to face with a dragon–what do you do?

Oh my goodness. Freeze. Stare in awe. Hope that it’s a nice dragon so I can actually touch it! Hope it’s not a mean dragon so I don’t have to fear for my life. If it’s a nice dragon, I would love, love, love to ride it.

Facebook 2About Sarah:

Don’t believe all the hype. Sarah Ashwood isn’t really a gladiator, a Highlander, a fencer, a skilled horsewoman, an archer, a magic wielder, or a martial arts expert. That’s only in her mind. In real life, she’s a genuine Okie from Muskogee, who grew up in the wooded hills outside the oldest town in Oklahoma and holds a B.A. in English from American Military University. She now lives (mostly) quietly at home with her husband and three sons, where she tries to sneak in a daily run or workout to save her sanity and keep her mind fresh for her next story.
